Maria Luisa Hernandez

We’re delighted to have Maria Luisa Hernandez’s newest work hanging in the gallery this week, influenced by the wild landscapes of her native Chile.

Louise Balaam | Painting a Space

In this new body of work, Louise Balaam is abstracting an experience of landscape. The paint creates a kind of space on canvas which the eye can explore, recalling memories of light on water, of gazing into a river and seeing reflections on the surface and the riverbed beneath, of the sea meeting the land, of rock and soil underfoot. As always, the sensation of the quality of light and the mood that it creates is a vital part of the work.
