This catalogue accompanied a solo exhibition by Elise Ansel in 2017, a group of works in which she interprets Old Master paintings through the prism of contemporary practice. The formal and visual elements almost eclipse the representational content of the paintings. The catalogue features an essay by art critic and curator Stephanie Buhmann, who discusses Ansel’s engagement with colour, method and structure.
