Louise McClary

16th September - 3rd October 2008

Louise McClary was born in Cornwall where she lives and works and from where she draws inspiration for her canvases. Painted in soft colours and tones they evoke the elements and countryside she observes everyday. Public collections include Cornwall Country Council, 2003 Arts Council of England Award.

Working in mixed media on linen, McClary creates layers of texture with organic forms including flower petals, leaf shapes and seaweed fronds. McClary has spent a cycle of seasons walking, drawing, writing and painting between where she lives on the Lizard and Kestle Barton just three miles away. It is the revisiting of these places and the discovery of new sights within them that has ultimately informed the vibrant paintings that make up this collection.
